WHY ORAL HEALTH MATTERS?

Most people have this perception that your mouth is different from your body, but in reality, your mouth is an extension of your remaining body. Many dentists often say that they can sense a person’s health by examining their mouth. For those considering orthodontic treatment, understanding factors like Invisalign cost can help in making informed decisions about overall oral care. Having bad oral health can lead to cavities, periodontal disease, and gingivitis.

WHAT CAN HAPPEN IF YOU HAVE POOR ORAL HEALTH?

Apart from having yellow teeth and bad breath, bad oral health can lead to several other problems affecting your body. Having poor oral health causes coronary artery disease, which might lead to cardiac arrest. There is a rapid increase in stroke due to periodontal disease. Oral health also affects pregnancy and birth complications. When you are pregnant, there is always a need to take care of your entire body. A woman with bad oral health can affect their pregnancy, causing stillbirth, miscarriage, and preeclampsia. During a study, a link was found between cavities and pneumonia. Pneumonia is an infection caused by bacteria in the lungs. The reason behind the link is believed to be that the bacteria from the mouth are aspirated into the airways of your lungs.

WHAT AFFECTS YOUR ORAL HEALTH?

The disease related to your teeth can be affected by a poor diet, one with a high sugar content. Smoking and alcohol consumption can also be the reason behind bad oral health. In some cases, the periodontal disease happens due to genetics, whether inherited from the father or the mother. Just like bad oral health can affect other parts of the body, there are some diseases or disorders that can cause oral-related disease. Any type of diabetes can cause oral-related problems. People associated with diabetes, with poor diet, have a greater risk of having periodontal disease. Having high stress can also be a reason behind developing periodontal disease.

CONCLUSION

Maintaining good oral health is important. It helps in the overall growth of your body. You can start having good oral health by brushing twice a day and having a proper diet. Poor oral health can lead to various diseases, beyond just your mouth. Your oral health can be affected by various factors, but it can also be improved by having the habit of following all the necessary steps.
